Pick of the Week

Happy Monday!

Ok so Mondays usually are not so happy, but maybe this will perk you up a bit. As promised here is my pick of the week, under $5.00 of course.

In Honor of Halloween, I wanted to find a great orange product to sport this week. I went shopping...nothing. I went home and started digging through my nail polishes and found I already had a great orange in my collection.

This Pick of the Week is Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Sun Kissed, this will run you about $4.00 at most retailers.

I am not a fan of all things Sally Hanson, but I do really enjoy their Complete Salon Manicure line and the Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear line, it drys pretty quickly and lasts as long as my higher end nail polishes.

I "borrowed" this picture from a fellow beauty blogger, The Nailtress. I unfortunately am not that great at doing my own nails.

Elf Holiday Sets #2

So I felt that we were a little harsh on our beloved elf in the last post. So, I went out and got a few more things from the holiday collection.

These are the glitter liners. They come in a set of 5, Plum Passion (more pink than plum), Twinkle Teal, Gunmetal, Black Bandit, and Boldly Bronze.  I haven't used them for a full day yet so I can't really speak to the staying power, but when I lightly rubbed my hand and they did smudge a little. The colors are really pretty, but they weren't the easiest to work with. I feel like they were kind of hard, and definitely not smooth enough to go on the waterline. My number one issue with these though is the packaging, I think have the sharpener in the cap is a neat idea (I am seriously sharpener challenged), but they will not stay on! The caps slide right off. Despite the evil little caps, I am definitely looking forward to using them to add a little pizazz to my lashline around the holidays.

I can't wait to redo my manicure to wear these polishes! The colors
are Golden Goddess, Royal Purple, Blush, Cranberry, and Metal Madness according to the website (although my Blush had a sticker saying Mod Mauve on it). I have to say, Metal Madness was love at first swatch :) And Golden Goddess is a great chunky Gold glitter.

Lastly I picked up the pack of 3 hypershine lip glosses. I have a bunch of these glosses, and I like all of them. They have a great consistency, not to sticky or think but give a great shine (hence, the name hypershine gloss)  These colors were no different. They are Pink, Berry Cherry, and Cherry Tart. And holy moly Cherry Tart is a lot more pigmented than I thought it would be.
Side Note: I think it's really odd that on the website it says what colors are in these packages, but a couple of the product stickers have different names.

Elf Holiday Sets

What's new in elf this Holiday season...Nothing really. Kinda disappointed in the winter sets. I have seen it and already own it, or not interested.

The Artist- I did however pick up this lovely liquid liner trio for $3.00 (I mostly just wanted the silver one), or so I thought... The Black does not go on opaque and I had to go over it twice and the silver drys looking flaky and kinda gross. Didn't bother trying the gold. Big time skip!

The Addict- The luminizer is nice but has a little too much sparkle for my taste, and it came with a very small (so far useless) kabuki brush. Alone the luminizer retails on their website for $1, so you are really paying $2 for the tiny brush. Let me know if you have found a use for this.
The plumping glosses are packaged differently than than they usually are. The regular plumping glosses are dual ended with one side that is supposed to have color and a mild plump and the other side being a sheer shimmer with more plump. The problem is that they do not plump at all, and are just overpoweringly mint scented. The two darker shades smelled like I had just smeared Vicks vapo rub on my face. Very unpleasant. The lightest shade wasn't quite as scented, and did have just the teeniest bit of tingle, but still no visible plumping action.

Overall Ruling?  We love you elf but you have disappointed. Better luck in your spring collection, please come out with new colors and collections we don't already have. The elf facebook page released a few Sneak Peeks of what else to expect this season, which looks like some of the same products with different packaging. The clutch will now come in gold, and they have a few tools covered in pink rhinestones.

If you haven't purchased the elf eye shadow palettes before, they are a must have, and it appears that they released a larger 140 palette for the season. But the 32 palettes, and beauty book palettes are the same, just with glittery packaging.

Pick of the Week!

Hello Beauties!
So, this is the first of many pick of the weeks. We will try to have these posted every Monday and they will always be under $5! We will take turns each week, and it will be a product that we just couldn't have lived without during that week.
So for me it is a product I'm sure you all have heard of. It's the WnW trio in Walking on Eggshells.

I have been so sick this week and have not felt like doing anything with my makeup. I did have to go out a few times and come to work today. So anytime I have left the house this week I have reached for this trio. It's so easy. I didn't have to think about color combinations or put in much effort. The colors are light and soft, and give you a bit of that fresh faced girl next door look. I think this is a go-to for a quick and effortless natural look. It retails for $2.99 at most drugstores. I got mine at Big Lots, so I think it was a little less.

I felt like death while taking these pictures, but I don't think I look too bad. :)
In case you were wondering, I'm also wearing: Bare Minerals Foundation, Milani blush in Mai Tai, Prestige my Biggest Lashes Mascara, Hard Candy concealer stick on my waterline, and elf Hypershine Lip Gloss in Fairy.

XOXO,

The Addict

Kaci's Collection

Hello lovelies!
I always love watching videos and seeing pictures of how people set up/store their makeup and seeing what kinds of goodies they have! So I though I would share mine. This isn't actually everything, I have some other things that are still in a box that hasn't been unpacked. But it is most of it.

I got the storage drawers at Walmart, the white trays and spinning utensil holder at target, the file organizer at Staples, and the utensil holder in the drawer at the dollar store.

Just in case you're interested, my nail color is Sinful Colors-Dancing Nails.

Welcome to our blog!

Hello beautiful people!
We are Andi and Kaci, sisters who love all things beauty related. We wanted to start this blog so that we can share that love with you! So, who are we?
The Artist:
Andi is the older sister. She got into makeup in High School, doing theatre makeup. In 2005 she moved to LA to attend Joe Blasco School of Makeup Artistry and then Marinello School of Beauty. She is a makeup artist and licensed Esthetician.
The Addict:
Kaci was inspired to wear and experiment with makeup by Andi. She is usually busy with work or classes, but her hobby is collecting makeup...and quite the collection she has!

Even though we live 400 miles apart we are very close and talk every single day. We appreciate you taking the time to check us out and hope that you like it!  This is our very first blog, so we hope you stick with us as we try to get this all figured out. We will do our best to bring you blog posts as frequently as we can.
